If you want to prevent your Samsung fridge from leaking you are in the right place. Is your Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling properly and you are thinking to buy a new one. If so, you need to stop right here. Well, there isn’t any need to buy a new refrigerator as sometimes this issue can be resolved with a simple fix or adjustments.
In this article, I am going to share some easy troubleshooting tips that you can easily use to fix the issue yourself. However, even though if it requires any professional help; these tips will help you in identifying the problem. Thus, saving both your time and money.
If your Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling Properly
Check the Basics First
Sometimes there isn’t a big issue with your refrigerator even though it not cooling properly. Hence, by just following the simple fixes you will be able to resolve the issue.
1. Refrigerator isn’t plugged in:
First of all, make sure that your refrigerator is plugged in and getting adequate power. Make sure whenever you open the refrigerator door, its light should be turned on. Although, it is the foremost thing to take into consideration, still many people panicked before even checking if their refrigerator is getting power or not.
2. The door isn’t closed properly:
Many refrigerators have rubber seals for providing airtight closure when the door is shut. However, if the seal is damaged it will allow the warm air to enter your fridge. Thus, change the rubber seal if it is torn or damaged.
So, always double-check your refrigerator’s door and ensure its light is turning on and off whenever you shut the door.
3. The thermostat is turned down:
Well, I have often seen many cases in which people mistakenly change thermostat settings while shifting the stuff in the refrigerator. So, if your Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling properly; always make sure that the thermostat is set at the right temperature.
4. Refrigerator’s storage capacity exceeds:
Be careful not to overcrowd your refrigerator with so much stuff that it blocks the air vents. As air vents are responsible for circulating the cold air in the fridge, they should not be blocked by any stuff. Hence, organize your fridge properly to maintain enough airflow between the items.

Check the refrigerator’s internal parts
If your refrigerator is still not cooling properly even after the above-described troubleshooting tips; then there are chances of the refrigerator’s internal components failure. To fix the problem, check the following parts.
1. Condenser Coils:
Condenser coils are responsible for producing cool air for your fridge. So, if the coils are covered with dirt and dust; they won’t be able to cool the fridge enough thus raising its internal temperature.
Sometimes just cleaning the condenser coil can fix the refrigerator’s temperature issue. Therefore, to make it function properly; it is recommended to clean the condenser coils regularly after every six months.
2. Condenser Fan Motor:
The condenser fan motor cools the condenser coil and compressor. So, if it is not working properly, the compressor can overheat and the internal temperature of the refrigerator can rise.
Therefore, to determine the problem first of all check the fan for any obstruction. If there isn’t any obstruction check the blade manually by spinning it. In case, if it does not spin freely then replace the condenser fan motor.
However, if it is spinning freely and there is also no obstruction; then check the fan motor for continuity with the help of a multimeter. You will have to change the motor if it has no continuity.
3. Evaporator Fan Motor:
The evaporator fan motor is responsible for pulling the air over evaporator coils and circulating it throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartment. Hence, if the evaporator fan is not running properly, the cool air will not circulate in the refrigerator.
So, in order to check any defects, spin the motor’s blade manually. In case, if it is not spinning freely it’s time to change it. Additionally, replace the motor if it is giving unusual noise.
Moreover, if the evaporator fan motor is not running at all, check the motor winding’s continuity with the help of a multimeter. If the motor windings have no continuity, replace them.
4. Start Relay:
Start relay along with start winding is responsible for supplying the power to the compressor. So, in the presence of any defect; the compressor will not be able to run well and your refrigerator will not cool properly.
Therefore, to determine any fault in the start relay; test its continuity between the start terminal and run sockets. If there is no continuity between the start terminal and run sockets, replace it.
Additionally, if you feel any burnt odor from the start relay, change it immediately.
5. Thermostat:
Voltage to the condenser fan motor, evaporator fan motor, and compressor is directed by the thermostat. In case, if it is not working properly; it may stop your refrigerator from running.
So, in order to rule out any defect in the thermostat, rotate it from the lowest to the highest setting and listen for the clicking sound. If you hear any clicking sound then the thermostat is not defective.
However, if you don’t hear any clicking sound; then use a multimeter to check the thermostat’s continuity. You have to replace the thermostat, in the absence of continuity at any setting.
6. Compressor:
Well, there can be some problem in the compressor if your Frigidaire side by side refrigerator not cooling properly. A compressor is a pump whose function is to compress the refrigerant and circulate it through the condenser and evaporator coil.
Hence, to determine any defect check the continuity between the electrical pins present on the side of the compressor by using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, replace the compressor.
7. Start Capacitor:
The start capacitor is responsible for giving a boost of power to the compressor to start. If it is not functioning properly, the compressor will not start and in turn, your refrigerator will not be cool enough.
So, check it with the multimeter; to look for any defect.
8. Thermistor:
The function of the thermistor is to monitor the temperature and send those readings to the control board. The Control board in turn utilizes these readings to regulate the power to the evaporator and condenser fan motor.
So, the condenser and evaporator fan will not function properly if the thermistor is faulty. Moreover, use the multimeter to determine any defect in the thermistor and replace it if required.
Conclusion:
To conclude, there isn’t any need to panic if your Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling properly. By just following the above-described troubleshooting tips you will be able to fix or trace the problem in your refrigerator easily.
