1. KitchenAid Ice Maker is Turned Off:
First, make certain that your ice maker is turned on. As different refrigerator models have their ice maker on/off button at different places, locate the switch and check if it is on. Some ice makers have their on/off button at the top right side of their freezer.
However, for those KitchenAid Ice Makers which do not possess any on/off button; there is a wire shutoff arm present on the top of the freezer to turn it on and off.
On the other hand, if your ice maker is turned on but not connected to the water supply line; it can lead to many problems. Like buzzing sound from the ice maker, too cold refrigerator section and frozen food in the crisper drawers, etc.
2. KitchenAid Freezer Temperature Issue:
A common cause for your KitchenAid ice maker not working properly is that either the freezer temperature is too high or too low.
If the freezer temperature is too low e.g. below 0°F; it will cause the ejection components to freeze thus causing trouble in dispensing the ice cubes. Conversely, if the temperature is too high e.g. above 100°F; it will cause deficient ice production.
In addition, if the temperature is high make sure that the condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan is functioning efficiently.
Hence, to function properly your ice maker should be set within a particular temperature range. The temperature should always be between 0-5°F ((-18 to -15°C).
Also, check the evaporator coils if they are covered with frost. If so then there are chances that the defrost system parts have failed.
3. KitchenAid Ice Maker Water Supply Issue:
When the KitchenAid ice maker is not filled with sufficient water either it will be unable to produce ice or will make deficient, malformed cubes. Usually, there is an issue in the water supply system when your ice maker does not fill adequately.

4. Defective Ice Maker Assembly:
If your ice maker isn’t functioning properly, there are chances that one of the ice maker’s assembly components is out of order. Since not every ice maker’s component is sold individually, you may have to buy the entire ice maker assembly.
In addition, check the water line, water inlet valve, and fan before changing the ice maker assembly. In case if these parts are fine but the temperature of the freezer is 15°F, change the ice maker assembly.
5. Defective Ice Maker Mold Thermostat:
Ice maker mold thermostat is responsible for monitoring the temperature of ice mold. Once the mold thermostat attains a particular temperature, the ice maker emits the cubes and refills the mold with water. Hence, ice production will be stopped in the presence of a defective mold thermostat.
Therefore to identify the faulty thermostat, use a multimeter to check continuity. Replace the thermostat if it doesn’t have any continuity.
